Travel fund winners at INFORMS Annual Conference, Nashville - Tennessee, Nov 12th - 16th, 2016

​

Several Members of INFORMS Student Chapter attended the INFORMS Annual Conference this year. This conference is one of the most important conferences in the area of Operations Research, Management Sciences and Analytics. Furthermore, a job affair was held for students seeking jobs in academia or industry. Three of our members were selected by random in our general meeting to be sponsored by INFORMS Student Chapter in order to participate in the conference. The President of the chapter participated in Women Leadership Development Workshop

Nasrin Mohabbati (president) attended the first workshop for Women Leadership Development at Auburn University on Oct 29th. This workshop aimed to improve female graduate students' leadership skills and knowledge. â€‹

Chapter officers participated the Graduate Engineering Research Showcase

​

Nasrin Mohabbati (president), Zahra Sedighi (treasurer), Shaham Derhami and Hamidreza Ahady (members) as ISE department representatives were participated in The Graduate Engineering Research Showcase on Oct 20th. This event was held by The Council of Engineering Graduate Students to present the outstanding work of Auburn's graduate students in engineering disciplines.

"Office of Student Involvement" at  AU financially supports the chapter

 

Our officers had prepared a proposal for the fall semester events and activities of our student chapter to present to the AUInvolve. The amount of $1610 was approved by the AUInvolve officers in order to support our student chapter during a meeting they had with our student chapter president. 

The aforementioned fund will be spent for the following activities:

  1. Sponsoring 3 members to participate at INFORMS Conference (travel/registration: $440.00 each)

  2. Operational: $40.00 (advertising materials - brochures)

  3. Programming: $150.00 (food/ beverages for LaTeX Workshop)

  4. Giveaways: $100.00 (Workshop giveaways)

INFORMS Student Chapter at Auburn University

Officers participated the Engineering Alumni Council Leadership Dinner

Nasrin Mohabbati (president) and Hyeoncheol Baik (vice-president) represented INFORMS Student Chapter in Alumni Dinner on September 29th at Auburn Hotel. Auburn Alumni of engineering departments were offering their free time to help develop better understanding of leadership and managing student organizations during the dinner.

ISE Department financially supports INFORMS Student Chapter guest speaker event

Since the effective role of the INFORMS Student Chapter for graduate students at Auburn University, the ISE department agreed to financially support the food/beverages cost for our first guest speaker series this semester.

Auburn University INFORMS Student Chapter

Monthly meeting with College of Engineering Schools Council  

​

Auburn College of Engineering Schools Council provides an opportunity for the engineering student organizations to collaborate with each other, present their activities, talk about their problems and find a solution for them. They hold a monthly meeting each semester with all of the representatives of engineering student organizations. INFORMS E-council representative (Qiong Hu) represents the chapter in these meeting.

Time: Sep 22th, Oct 20th, and Nov 15th at 6 pm.

Location: Dean's conference room, room 1303 in Shelby.

Thanks to our secretary, Behnam Rasoolian, now we have a brochure designed and will be distributed in our events. It includes information about the organization, the names of officers and faculty advisor, membership benefits, upcoming events, photos of the past events, and contact information.  Women’s Leadership Workshop for international students at AU - Feb 15th, 2017

​

Women’s Leadership Institute will hold a Workshop for international women students.  The workshop is an hour long and it is about how to write professional emails.

The spots are limited. If you are interested email your name and student ID to Ms. Sarah Nobles.
